If you’ve been having a rough time or if you’re just ready to boss up and become the best version of yourself, a glow up challenge is a great place to start. We’re so used to constantly being on the go and barely making time for ourselves. Be it with school, work or family life.
I know I’m guilty of this.
Although I work from home, somehow I find myself bombarded with work and chores and completely neglect self-care.
Have you noticed yourself feeling more tired and more stressed than ever? Well, babe, I think it’s time to prioritise self-care and introduce some healthy habits into your life.
WHAT IS A GLOW UP?
A glow up or glow up challenge refers to making changes that transform you mentally, physically and emotionally.
Glow ups can happen naturally or by using something such as a glow up challenge to help the process.
This challenge includes tips that you can introduce into your daily routine for 30 days and help you glow inside and out.
Now let’s be real: implementing these tips and habits won’t turn you into a bad-ass overnight, but sticking at it and making a few of these habits a part of your lifestyle will bring about a lot of change.
Just be consistent and stay the course!

1. MOVE YOUR BODY

If exercise is already part of your routine, great, you’re already on the right track!
Otherwise, take some time to get your sweat on a few times a week. It will help you glow up from the inside out.
Whether it’s a few days a week at the gym or at home workouts, do what works best for you.
But, if you’re like me and absolutely hate working out, introduce short, medium to high-intensity workouts, which will help you get it out of the way.
Another great tip is to introduce an exercise that you find fun, for me, it’s hula hooping or skipping. It makes me feel like a little girl again and less like I’m working out.
2. DRINK MORE WATER
Not drinking enough water is something so many of us struggle with, but water is life – literally!
Drinking water may make you pee more often, but it also improves your mood, clears your skin and can help your focus.
Invest in a cute water bottle that will prompt you to drink enough throughout the day.
Like these that have markers to show times to drink water. Having a visual cue means you have no excuse and can stop being a dehydrated zombie.
3. SET AND BREAK DOWN YOUR GOALS

If you really want to glow up, it’s important to stop procrastinating and figure out what your goals are and how you’re going to reach them.
Make your goals specific and break them down into smaller steps.
For example, rather than a goal being ‘lose weight’, the goal instead could be to ‘lose 2 pounds in the next 2 months ’.
Once you have your goal, write an ordered list of the steps needed to achieve it.
For example, if the goal is to exercise more, the list of steps may be to-
- Look up different workout classes
- Schedule 30 mins of exercise three times a week into your schedule
- Buy new workout gear
Using smaller steps prompts you to take action, resulting in the most epic glow up.
4. EAT YOUR FRUIT AND VEGETABLES
Having a balanced diet and eating your 5 a day is key to glowing up from the inside out.
Fruit and veggies are an excellent source of vitamins and help keep your body on top form.
Getting your 5 a day can keep your immune system strong but also prevent things such as digestion issues and unwanted weight gain.
Introducing fruit and vegetables into each meal may sound daunting and expensive, but it doesn’t have to be.

A great way to introduce more goodness into your diet is in smoothies. You can add as many fruits and vegetables as you like.
Smoothies are also cheap, and you don’t have to be a gourmet chef to make them.
All you need is a blender and the ingredients of your choice. You can buy frozen fruit and veggies at most supermarkets, so you don’t have to worry about anything spoiling and going to waste.
5. HAVE A SKINCARE ROUTINE

How many times have you fallen asleep in your makeup? Or forgotten to moisturise?
Your skin is an indicator of so many things relating to your overall health, but also how well you look after your skin.
To stop those annoying blackheads, premature ageing or irritated skin, create a skincare routine.
Although how you look shouldn’t matter, it can really affect your self-confidence. I know how crap you can feel when you’ve had a sudden breakout and feel like a walking pimple.
It sucks!
So why not do what you can to prevent breakouts and have glowing, unblemished skin?
Start by identifying your skin type. Do you have oily, combination or dry skin? What are your skin concerns – Blackheads, redness, etc?
Once you have identified your skin type and concerns, find products suited to you and get your skincare routine off the ground.
- Start off with a good cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturiser
- Cleanse your face in the morning and at night
- Use serums that target any issues
- ALWAYS wear sunscreen
Committing to a skincare routine will not only make your skin look gorgeous, but will also boost your confidence and contribute to the glow up.
Here are a few of the skincare favourites that I can’t live without!
6. TRY A DIFFERENT LOOK
Testing out and finding a fresh look that you love can boost your confidence tremendously.
Try out some new hairstyles, a new makeup look or a different style of dressing, anything that makes you feel like a hot mama.
It doesn’t have to be anything crazy either, perhaps wear your hair curly instead of bone straight or maybe try a different lip colour.
Do whatever makes you feel comfortable, confident and ready to glow.
7. GET ORGANISED

If life has been stressful and you feel like everything is a little haywire, get organised and glow up in each area of your life.
Organise your home
- Declutter your closet and give clothes you haven’t worn in years to charity
- Sort of that draw of junk and letters that you have been avoiding for months
Organise your time
If you’ve been running around like a headless chicken and feel overwhelmed, that’s a sign that you need to slow down and take back control of your time.
- Stay on top of things by taking one day out of the week to prepare
- Organise the tasks you need to complete for the week ahead
- Meal prep, organise your home and create some structure for your week
Organise your mind
Having an outlet or a way to calm your thoughts is the ultimate form of self-care. It’s a healthy way to destress, release your thoughts and emotions and stay mentally healthy.
Organise your thoughts and emotions by introducing some healthy habits into your routine.
Such as mindfulness, writing your thoughts in a journal, colouring or guided meditation.
8. TAKE YOUR VITAMINS
If you’ve been feeling more tired than usual or maybe getting sick more often, that may be a sign that your body is lacking in something.
Although we try to have a healthy diet full of vitamins and nutrients, sometimes there is only so much food can do.
Now I know many people swear by taking particular supplements, but I am no doctor. I recommend visiting your GP for a blood test to help you identify what your body needs.
9. GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP

Nowadays we don’t sleep enough because of work, social life and binge-watching Netflix series until 3 am.
Not getting enough sleep can affect your mood, weaken your immune system and cause you to have bags and dark circles.
Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the best ways to glow up, so it’s time to turn off your Instagram notifications, have an early night and wake up looking like a radiant goddess.
10. TREAT YOURSELF HUN!
Often we focus on looking after others before we consider doing the same for ourselves.
If you want to glow up, make yourself a priority. Which means making some time for yourself at least once a month for some self love.
Perhaps you’ve been wanting to treat yourself to an at-home pamper session or maybe you want to splurge on a designer handbag – the choice is yours, you deserve it!
Understanding how to make yourself happy is the key to a successful glow up. If you can’t make yourself happy, no one else can.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I hope this glow up challenge will help you glow up mentally, physically and emotionally.
It doesn’t have to be overwhelming or time-consuming, and you can take things at your own pace.
